[/li][li]Excalibur: The sword of legends, it is the sword that Gilgamesh has sought more than any other. After much traveling, he finally acquired it and wields it with great skill. The sword's damage is doubled constantly, making it much more powerful than any old sword.

APPEARANCE
With Gilgamesh's ability to morph his appearance, it's difficult to say what his true self is, as people only have his word on what his 'true' appearance actually looks like. However, for the most part, there is a recurring theme when it comes to his various forms. His forms can range in the number of arms from two to eight, sometimes pending his mood or the appearance he is taking on, and much of the time he has a muscular physique. He will have a darker complexion much of the time, ranging between simply a tan and being somewhere in the gray area. His attire has the ability to morph with him, thus changing his appearance to sometimes be more clothed and sometimes be more armored pending the circumstances. For the most part though, you'll know Gilgamesh when you see him unless he takes on his Vana'diel appearance.

WEAPONRY
As Gilgamesh has gone through a number of dimensions and fought many warriors, he has acquired quite a few famous weapons for his collection. Though he has many more unnamed weapons, there are eight weapons that he will primarily use in a fight, favoring these ones for one reason or another. These eight weapons are as follows:
[/li][li]Excalipoor: A fake version of Excalibur, the Excalipoor is something that Gilgamesh ran into during his travels while trying to find the real Excalibur. Often accidentally pulling it out in a fight, the blade's enchantment prevents it from really doing any harm to people. It feels like a light poke or push to get hit by it really. However, the blade has an unusual effect where it will deal more damage than any other blade when it is thrown at someone. Gilgamesh hasn't quite figured out the existence of that function yet though.
[/li][li]Naginata: A simple weapon, it is of a particular design and is the weapon that Gilgamesh has quite a bit of sentimental value with. It is a weapon he used back when he had almost none in his collection, and has kept it to this day. Being a pole-arm type weapon, it has more reach than his swords, and thus can be used on much further targets.
[/li][li]Chicken Knife: A weapon that signifies cowardess, it is something that Gilgamesh happened upon and sometimes pulls it out by accident much like Excalipoor. Ironically, it is potentially more powerful than Excalibur, as the weaker Gilgamesh is, the stronger the knife becomes.
[/li][li]Masamune: Yes, the very same. An extremely long katana that Gilgamesh found in his travels, it is a useful sword that he tries to make use of often. It carries an enchantment that speeds up all of his attacks significantly, allowing him to strike quicker and more often.
[/li][li]Zantetsuken: A powerful sword wielded by the entity known as Odin, Gilgamesh's copy is in fact a sword taken directly from Odin in one dimension. It carries with it the ability to induce death in its foes, and when one is struck with Zantetsuken, they are inflicted with the Doom status. The Doom counter starts at 5, and with each hit from Zantetsuken afterwards, the counter goes down by 1. If it hits zero, the opponent is instantly killed. However, status-curing effects can remove this and force him to start over by reinitiating the Doom status.
[/li][li]Battle Axe: A simple battle axe, it too is a weapon of simple origin, being one that Gilgamesh has had from when he first began. Being an axe, it has much more crushing power than a sword does, and so it can deal somewhat more damage than a sword, about one and a half times more.
[/li][li]Genji's Katana: A special sword that was inherited by him along with the Genji Equipment that he wears. It is a weapon that works well with Gilgamesh's natural talents, and so all of his special attacks deal twice as much damage while he wields this sword.

FIGHTING STYLE
Scramble Fighter
Gilgamesh's fighting style is unpredictable, as he pulls weapons out at random when he executes his attacks. He wields some forms of magic as well, being able to cast thunder and aero-type spells as well as various forms of Blue Magic such as Rocket Punch, Jump, and Aqua Breath. Because of his wide range of skills and abilities, it isn't certain what Gilgamesh will actually do or how effective his attacks will be until they've already happened.
SPECIAL ABILITIES
- Missile: A more powerful Blue Magic technique, it conjures a large missile that Gilgamesh fires at his enemies. While the missile moves about as a man running, it has an extremely wide explosion area, capable of catching most people in it if they're near by to deal a high amount of damage. Launches 3 missiles while in EX Mode.
- Sword Dance: A technique of Gilgamesh's design, he wields his weapons and swings at the enemy while spinning towards them at the same time, allowing him to get in more attacks.
- I'm not down yet!: Something that Gilgamesh does later in fights after letting his opponent beat down on him to give the impression of being weak, to throw them off their game. When he uses this, he casts Protect, Shell, and Haste on himself as well as fully healing himself.
- 1000 Needles: Another Blue Magic skill, he conjures and fires exactly 1000 small needles at the target. Each one only deals a minor amount of damage, but because of their size, it's near impossible to block them by martial means and they move at high speed. Plus, in mass numbers, they deal more damage than individually. Upgrades to the superior skill of 10,000 Needles while in EX Mode.
EX MODE
Gilgamesh Morphing Time
Gilgamesh's EX Mode actually has him shift into what is his true form, gaining six extra limbs and quite a fearsome appearance. In this form, he wields a weapon in each of his hands, being any combination of the weapons from his collection (and more often than not, being multiples of the same weapon). The benefits from the weapons he wields stack together, so if he wields multiples of the same weapon, he gains their effects combined (so if he wielded 8 Excaliburs for example, his damage would be multiplied 16 times). In addition, all of his attacks either launch more projectiles, hit over a larger area, inflict more hits, or any combination pending the attack.
EX BURST
The Strongest Sword
Seven copies of Excalipoor and one copy of Excalibur appear in front of Gilgamesh in a rotating circle, and he has to grab one of the swords. Regardless of which sword he grabs, he will execute a series of dashing slash attacks on the enemy, though the damage will vary based on which sword he grabs. If he grabs Excalipoor, then after the slashes, he realized he got the wrong sword and toss it behind him, hitting the enemy for massive damage. Should he grab Excalibur, then after the slashes he will perform an attack known as Ultimate Illusion, where he jumps into the air and lands, launching a massive shockwave at the enemy to deal a high amount of damage.
PERSONALITY
Gilgamesh is a very strange individual. Attire aside, his behavior is eccentric and his choices don't really pin him as one type of person. Unlike many who are able to leave a pretty certain first impression, Gilgamesh tends to leave more people confused about him and cause more questions than answers. He never really explains himself and why he does the things he does, acting on whims and deciding how he wants to do things as he goes. For the most part, like his fighting style, it's pretty difficult to guess what he'll do or how he'll do it.
Regardless though, Gilgamesh generally acts in ways that debunk the idea of him being a typical evil guy. He always acts in an energetic, haughty, and 'powerful' manner, but regardless of what he does, he never truly seems to have malicious intent behind it. In fact, many of his 'attacks' against people result in him lending people his help or giving them an item of some sort. He will respect any warrior who can defeat him in combat and someone is considered his ally, he will fight for them with all of his strength. He is loyal to those he sides with and keeps his word to the best of his ability.
Anybody who spends any length of time around him will notice that Gilgamesh is a very prideful fellow and views himself in high regard, despite his seeming weakness and his existing track record from his home world. However, his pride is there for a reason, as he really is a powerful warrior. Any who encounter him will have trouble defeating him and those who do know of him know him as the man who has 'strength that once decimated an entire army'. Still, he never seems to show his full strength, and that combined with his eccentric nature make it difficult to tell if he is playing around in a fight or being serious. Regardless, should he lose a fight, he'll just make up some sort of excuse before retreating, but the excuse sometimes actually has a basis.
Aside from his pride, Gilgamesh also has a bit of an obsession with collecting swords. It's somewhat stemmed from his success thus far, and he tends to feel entitled to claim any sword he finds which he feels is worth having in his collection. This is often the cause of a fight with him, as he will use whatever means necessary to claim a weapon if he thinks it is worth having. He's also extremely protective of the swords he already has, and tends to look down on thieves who would try to take them from him. He never really thinks of himself as a thief, possibly because he will go right up to people's faces and declare that he wants their weapon.
HISTORY
Gilgamesh's origins aren't something commonly known, and he has divulged little in the way of details to those he has said anything to at all. However, it is certain that he originated on Planet-R in a village where all of the men were warriors. Gilgamesh was the latest to prove himself as the best of their warriors, and thus is where he obtained the Genji Equipment. The Genji Equipment was handed out to the best of their warriors and it is rumored the reason it is so efficient is that centuries of 'blood, sweat and dust' accumulated on the armor is what makes it so good.
However, Gilgamesh's time there is unknown, and his name truly begins circulating when he appears as the right hand man of Exdeath. His first known task was to guard Bartz, Lenna, and Faris after they had been taken prisoner. It was relatively simple, though he was attacked by Galuf and was forced to retreat at the time. It wasn't so much that he had used his full strength as he simply didn't feel like fighting to the death at the time.
He made another appearance later on at the Big Bridge, showing more of his strength to Bartz and his companions this time, though eventually losing just like before. Again, he did not feel like fighting to the death, and so he covered his own retreat and fled from the party. He doesn't appear again until the attack on Castle Exdeath, appearing on the ship that Bartz and Xezat are using to attack and bringing his companion Enkidu with him this time. Despite haivng help, he loses once more, but attempts to take Galuf with him down to the ocean. However, he failed at this as well, and swam off back to Castle Exdeath.
He appears later inside of Castle Exdeath, fighting the party once more, though he noticed this time that Galuf was not present. Upon asking why, he learned that he had sacrificed himself to defend the others from Exdeath, and he actually showed concern about the man's death. Eventually in the fight, Gilgamesh decides that he will show his true form this time, and attempts to finish off the group with all of his strength, having finally acquired Excalibur. However, this was proven false, as the sword he wielded was Excalipoor, a fake version that is effectively useless to him. Exdeath layed witness to this failure, and as punishment, he banished Gilgamesh to the Rift.
Gilgamesh spent quite a while inside of the Rift, fighting just to survive inside and fending off monster after monster. It was during this time that he began to have a change of heart, no longer desiring to serve Exdeath after seeing where everything would be banished to. He simply wished to return to the real world, though he knew better than to believe it was possible. After a while, he encountered the group again, though he did not recognize them at first due to fighting so many monsters and attacked them on sight. Eventually though, he recognized them, and mentally decided he would help them to foil Exdeath's plans. Thus, when the party fought against the Necrophobe, Gilgamesh arrived and sacrificed himself to help them, challenging Bartz to a rematch just before his death.
This wasn't truly his end, however. Gilgamesh's spirit remained within the Void, and began to wander within it. He would end up in various other worlds, materializing in various manners and fighting against as well as alongside a number of opponents both worthy and unworthy. He would begin to collect various weapons of fame and power from these realms, learning of their power and using them to improve upon his own strength to prepare himself for his rematch against Bartz. He also ran into a number of warriors whom he would encounter later, such as Squall, Zidane, Vaan, Terra, Warrior of Light, and Cecil.
Eventually, he wandered into a realm unlike the others before. It seemed to be a combination of realms, and as he wandered it, he encountered Squall, Zidane, and Vaan. Recognizing them from their previous encounters, he greeted them, though they did not seem to recognize him at all. He would find out later that due to being properly summoned into this dimension, they were inflicted with memory loss. Annoyed at their lack of memory, Gilgamesh left in search of Bartz.
Eventually, Gilgamesh did in fact locate Bartz, though like the others, Bartz did not recognize him. Being forced to reintroduce himself, Gilgamesh was forced to convince Bartz to fight in their promised rematch, though much like before, he lost to his 'rival'. Gilgamesh proclaimed that this match was only the beginning, though Bartz decided to point out that Gilgamesh's body was fading. It was at this point that Gilgamesh learned that despite not being summoned into this dimension, he ended up being bound by its rules, and his defeat was sending him back to the Rift due to a lack of a home world. Just before his body was dragged back to the Rift, he let out a declaration of a true rematch between the two.
And eventually, after more wandering, he would find his chance.
When he had first arrived was in the twelfth cycle of conflict, and he eventually stumbled his way back into the same dimension during the eleventh cycle, unknowingly having traveled back in time by going through some very strange dimensions. Seeing this as his chance, he vowed to not lose to any warrior before having his rematch against Bartz, though deities only know how well he can uphold that.
